Support Squad
Jessica was recently diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma grade 3 of the right breast. She is still awaiting biopsy results from the left breast and staging results to better understand the scope of her diagnosis. She is still waiting for additional biopsy results to determine the stage, but she and her family already know that the road ahead will include chemotherapy, a total mastectomy, and radiation therapy.
This diagnosis has been an overwhelming shock for Jessica and the people who love her. From what she is aware of, there is no family history of breast cancer, so this news was unexpected for everyone. The next few weeks and months will bring a great deal to manage as Jessica faces treatment while caring for her family.
Jessica has worked at UPMC Horizon as a Labor and Delivery nurse since 2014. She is also a wife and the mother of two children, 9-year-old Ava and 13-year-old Jackson. During her time away from work, the financial pressure on her household will continue, and support can help ease some of that burden so her focus can stay on treatment and recovery.
